MVC Wrestler Megan Merson Makes History

MVC Wrestler Megan Merson competed in the CCS Masters wrestling tournament, making her the first female wrestler at MVC to do so.

In order to qualify for CCS Masters, Megan first competed in the PCAL League meet where she delivered an impressive performance, finishing the day with a 3-2 record and securing 4th place. She entered the tournament as an unseeded wrestler but pulled off a major upset over 4th-seeded Roxanna Gomez of Hollister to clinch a top-four finish. Her 4th-place result also earned her PCAL Second Team All-League honors. This 4th place finish qualified her for the Southern CCS Regional Tournament.

At the Southern CCS Regional, she finished 3-3 on the day to place 6th and earn a spot at CCS Masters. She started strong with a pin over Jacquelin Vizcarra of Overfelt and added key victories against Alize Robles of Soquel and Vibha Ramakumara of Evergreen Valley—both of whom were league runners-up.

At CCS Masters, Megan finished 1-2, gaining valuable experience that will serve her well as she looks ahead to next season.

Megan, we are so proud of all that you have accomplished.
