The Monte Vista Christian High School Varsity Wrestling team kicked off their season in spectacular fashion last night, securing a dominant victory over North Salinas in their first dual meet of the year. The Mustangs claimed a decisive 50-22 win, marking an incredible start to their season and a memorable Senior Night celebration.
The evening featured standout performances across the board. Tyson Shaw secured a second-period fall, using a double leg take down forcing his opponent straight to his back. Ethan Komrosky battled fiercely to edge out a 9-7 decision, while Thomas Beck took the win with a massive throw that led to a first-period pin. Alex Ursino dominated the mat, earning a 19-4 technical fall with six smooth take downs.
Additional wins came from Ben Cube, Mason Vasquez, Preston Venosta, Michael VanDierendonck, and Jacob Wong, showcasing the depth and talent of the team.
This impressive victory sets the Mustangs off to a strong 1-0 start in dual meets, with high hopes for continued success this season.
