MVC Swim Shines at PCAL Mission Division Finals

This past Friday, April 26, at the 2024 PCAL Mission Division Finals, MVC showcased the hard work they have been putting in this entire season. In the Girls' 200 Yard Medley, Isabel Beck , Serena Barragan, Sarah Varghese, and Zoe Sanchez showcased their speed, finishing in 2nd place. Meanwhile, in the Boys' 200 Yard Medley, Peyton Sanchez, Tyler Gill, Huang Jue, and Cody Lebovitz finished in first place. Mariella Guevara was a shining star in the Girls' 200 Yard Free, finishing in 1st place with a dominating performance.

In the Boys' 200 Yard Free, Rowan Williams finished finished in 3rd. Tyler Gill continued to make waves, finishing in 3rd place in the Boys' 50 Yard Free and Serena Barragan finished in 3rd place in the Girls' 100 Yard Fly. Peyton Sanchez finished in 1st place in the Boys' 100 Yard Fly with a commanding performance and Gill returned to the spotlight in the Boys' 100 Free, finishing with yet another 1st place finish. Mariella Guevara maintained her winning streak in the Girls' 500 Yard Free, capturing 1st place in a dominating performance and in the Boys' 500 Yard Free, Rowan Williams finished in 2nd place.

The Girls' 200 Yard Free relay team comprised of Mariella Guevara, Hannah Reuter, Lexi Schmidt, and Sarah Varghese took another 2nd place finish. On the Boys' side, Mario Chavez Gonzalez, Jacob Wong, Jake Francis, and Tyler Gill combined to finish 2nd place in the 200 Yard Free relay, further cementing MVC's dominance in the pool at the PCAL Swim Finals. Peyton Sanchez finished in 2nd place in the Boys' 100 Yard Back, while Jue Huang placed 2nd in the Boys' 100 Yard Breast. In the Boys' 400 Yard Free Relay, Rowan Williams, Peyton Sanchez, Micah Strock, and Mario Gonzalez Chavez finished in 2nd place and contributed significantly to MVC's overall success.


In the Mission Division Boys' Team Standings, MVC emerged as the champion with an impressive 269 points, followed closely by Pacific Collegiate with 244 points and Soledad with 224 points. 
In the Girls' Team Standings, Pacific Collegiate claimed the top spot with 262 points, while Soledad secured 2nd place with 236 points, and MVC with 171 points. Congratulations to Coach Staka and the entire swim program for representing MVC with pride at the 2024 PCAL Swim Finals! On the CCS!
