Monte Vista Christian Cheer Takes 1st At Branham Invitational

The Monte Vista Christian Competition Cheer Team kicked off their season in spectacular fashion, securing first place at the Branham Invitational by a impressive margin of 16 points. The High School team delivered a flawless routine, free of errors and drops, defeating a notoriously tough Milpitas in their division to earn the top spot.

The Middle School team also put on a show, performing as a showcase entry due to the high school focus of the event. Their routine earned positive feedback from judges .

"Any time we can beat a Bay Area team, that's big for us," said Coach Menez. "The teams in the BVAL are typically tougher to beat. So winning by 16 points is huge, especially when you consider that at Nationals, the top 10 teams are usually separated by just three points."

Last season, Monte Vista placed second at CCS, missing the top spot by a mere half-point. This victory demonstrates the team's growth and sets a high bar for the year ahead.

"I am proud of the dedication the team has shown and the work they have put into the routine," Menez added. "We are starting our season out strong, and I have high hopes for us this year."

Monte Vista Christian's will compete again later this month as they host the annual Mustang Invitation on December 21st.
