MVC Announces New Head Varsity Track & Field Coach

MVC is thrilled to announce Andrew Dela Cruz as the new Head Varsity Track and Field Coach. Coach Dela Cruz is currently the owner of XIOS Strength and Conditioning in Gilroy. Upon graduating from Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, Coach Dela Cruz attended Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA and received a B.S. in Kinesiology and Bryan University where he earned an A.A. In Advanced Personal Training and Exercise Science.

Coach Dela Cruz has been an Assistant Track and Field Coach for De Anza College as a Sprints and Jump Coach, Javelin Coach as well as the Decathlon/Heptathlon Coach. Most recently Coach Dela Cruz was an Assistant Track and Field Coach at Archbishop Mitty as the Head Long Jump and Triple Jump Coach.

Recently, he was part of the coaching staff for the California Strength NFL Combine Draft training where 5 active players are currently on an NFL roster. He coached three junior college state placers in the Decathlon/Heptathlon and Javelin Throw. Matt Coleman, MVC's Director of Athletics states, "Coach Dela Cruz accomplishments speak for themselves as a high school and NCAA student-athlete. What he has done as a collegiate and high school Track and Field Coach make him a great fit for MVC."

"I'm excited about the great opportunity to get to work with the MVC community and making a positive impact through Track and Field!" Coach Dela Cruz holds certifications in Advanced Personal Training and Exercise Science, a Certified Weightlifting Coach, Certified Speed Specialist and U.S. Paralympic Track and Field Coach.
