Coach Spears fell in love with Track and Field in middle school, holding school records in the high jump and triple jump. In high school, Coach Spears competed in several events, such as long jump, triple jump, hurdles and high jump. Coach Spears also competed in the decathlon. The high jump is where he thrived, setting school records at Aptos High School that lasted for a decade. Coach Spears went on to compete collegiately at Long Beach State University. Upon his return to Santa Cruz, he was the Assistant High Jump Coach at Aptos High School. Â Coach Spears loves coaching at Monte Vista Christian and is looking forward to the success of the Track and Field Program in the years ahead. Â Â
