Staka hired as MVC Swim Coach

We are pleased to announce MVC's new Head Varsity Swim Coach, Chris Staka. In 2016, Staka was the state champion and record holder in the 100 Backstroke at Aptos High School. After graduating in 2016, he began his collegiate career at the University of Alabama, being named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. In his sophomore year at the University of Alabama, Staka earned a place on the Tide's NCAA National Championship squad. In 2018, he earned a Bronze medal in the World Cup in the 50 Meter Backstroke.

In 2019 as a junior, Staka transferred to the University of Texas where he placed in the top five in three different events at the Big 12 Championship. He has most recently coached the JV Swim and Water Polo teams at Aptos High School. Director of Athletics Matt Coleman states, "Coach Staka brings a wealth of experience to MVC as a former Division 1 student-athlete who has competed and won at the highest levels. We are thrilled to have him join our team and are eager for him to utilize his expertise in our swim program." Staka adds, "I'm excited to add to the excellence in swimming, faith and culture that I have already seen at Monte Vista Christian." We welcome Coach Stake to Mustang Nation!
